Ellen Terry the Harum-Scarum Girl is a play by Montague Haltrecht, based on the life of Dame Ellen Terry, GBE [1] (27 February 1847 – 21 July 1928), an English stage actress who became the leading Shakespearean actress in Britain. The play was written for the English actress Judi Dench.

Performance history in South Africa

1981: Adapted into a one-woman show by Bess Finney for the Friends of the Johannesburg Art Gallery, 1981.

1981: In 1981 Bess Finney produced and acted in the play at the Baxter Studio, directed by John Rogers.

1992: A Quentin Productions production was directed by Drummond Marais with Bess Finney in the title role at the Rosebank Theatre, Johannesburg in 1992.
