Founded by Louis du Preez in 1988 as an adjunct to the training of teachers going into schools and having to do school plays and performances. The Wellington Onderwyskollege Toneelgeselskap ("Wellington Teacher’s Training College Theatre Company”) changed its name to the Onderwyskollege Boland Toneelgeselskap (OBT) when the college amalgamated with the teachers training colleges of Oudtshoorn, Paarl, Wellington and Athlone.
