Contribution to South African theatre, film, media and performance

Jill Fletcher and Tony Fletcher had a club for young people, teaching them about making glove puppets, which the learners then used to put on a puppet show for the parents, on the puppet stage which Tony had built in their house.

In the early 1970s the Fletcher's Puppets, mounted periodic marionette productions at the Nico Malan Theatre in Cape Town, centered on their loveable character, "Mrs Em".
