Amateur Teater is the contemporary Afrikaans term for Amateur Theatre.
The concept of theatre by Amateurs (i.e.Amateur Theatre in English) was initially referred to as Liefhebbery Tooneel in Dutch, adapted to Liefhebbery Toneel in Cape-Dutch and Afrikaans, before the word amateur was taken on in Amateur Toneel and ultimately, approximately in the 1970s, Amateur Teater.
