There are numerous (and an increasing number of ) festivals or theatre competitions in South Africa. Usually annual events, they are made up of different individual performances, but in fact also constitute theatrical events or performances in themselves.

Because they can of course be seen as Venues utilized by for other events, they may also appear in Section 9 of the Index (South African Theatre Venues, Companies, Societies, etc ).
