Black Nativity by American poet, social activist, novelist, playwright, and columnist Langston Hughes (1902-1967) [1]. A holiday gospel musical first performed Off-Broadway on December 11, 1961.
The Market staged a version of this play, directed by Pieter Scholtz and starring nineteen black artists, as their Christmas production in 1979.
