He was a leading member of [[All the World's a Stage]]. Specifically mentioned as stage manager for their productions of [[Charles XII]] (Planche) and [[The Irish Tutor]] (Glengall) on 22 August 1845 (and he is possibly the actor "Mr L" who appears in both pieces).
 
 
 
He was also one of the trustees of their planned theatre (the [[Drury Lane Theatre]]) in Cape Town (1846).
