Captain Edward Collins (18**-18**) was a soldier and performer in Cape Town.
(Also referred to simply as Captain Collins)
A member of the 21st Light Dragoons, he was one of Captain Frazer's stalwarts in the Cape Town garrison theatre company called the Officers of the Garrison (later All the World's a Stage) which performed in the African Theatre at the Cape in 1807-8 in a range of plays. He played old and young male parts and wrote and delivered some of the epilogues.
His roles included "Young Marlow" in She Stoops to Conquer, "Bob Acres" in The Rivals, The West Indian, Tom Thumb, The Beaux Stratagem,
Among the epilogues he produced were those for She Stoops to Conquer (spoken as "Young Marlow") and for The Rivals (as "Bob Acres") (see Bosman, 1928: p.71-2).
