First Performed at the Theatre-Royal, Covent-Garden on January 28, 1806, and published by T. Woodfall and George Dobbin & Murphy, in the same year. Also Published by D. Longworth, at the Dramatic Repository, Shakspeare-Gallery, New York in 1815.
 
 
 
The Amazon website[http://www.amazon.co.uk/Stories-Musical-Griffinhoof-composed-selected/dp/B0000CY4FE] also has a copy which suggests that the play was originally performed as written by "Arthur Griffinhoof" (the pseudonym of  George Colman the Younger], with songs and music composed and selected by Michael Kelly. .

20 September 1826: Performed in Cape Town by the [[Garrison Players|Garrison Amateur Company]]) in  [[The African Theatre|The Cape Town Theatre]], with ''[[A Cure for the Heartache]]'' (Morton). A quite comprehensive review of the production appeared in the [[The Commercial Advertiser]] on 26 September 1826 (though, interestingly, the names of performers are not mentioned, only the roles.)
