He was a resident of Mowbray, Cape Town, called an "excellent low comedian" by Laidler (1926, p. 54).
His contribution to South African Theatre
Performed on occasion for Captain Hall's company from the 73rd Regiment (see Garrison Players), inter alia specifically mentioned in The Bloomer Costume (Stirling) on 2 May 1854; and The Spitalfields Weaver on 5 June and 18 September, 1854 (the latter [performance was put on as part of a benefit evening for the esteemed comedian).
He also appeared in productions by the Lycett's Company, inter alia in Richard III (1849/1850?).
