Biography

Born Betty Botha in Cape Town, the daughter of Minna Freund and Judge C.L. Botha. Married to Leon Hugo.

Studied at University of Stellenbosch.

Career

She was a founder member of the Libertas Theatre Club in Stellenbosch, responsible for setting up the society in 19**. . *** Became a lecturer in English at the University of South Africa and later the Pretoria Technikon. While there she was an active member of the *** dramatic society and wrote a thesis on translations of Shaw’s works into German. ??**
