Hazel was actively involved in theatre in East London, as producer/director and choreographer. Productions directed by Hazel include: Listen to the Wind, Hit the Deck, Peter Pan, The King and I, Carousel, No, No, Nanette, The Wizard of Oz, My Fair Lady, The Sound of Music.

She was choreographer for Something's Afoot (1981), Winnie-the-Pooh (1984).
