A German translation and adaptation was done by Friedrich Ludwig Schröder under the title ''[[Der Ring]]'' , a comedy in four acts. First performed in 1783 in Vienna. (

He also translated Farquhar's sequel (''[[Sir Harry Wildair]]'') as ''[[Der Ring, oder die unglückliche Ehe durch Delikatesse]]''.
Performed in Hamburg 1788, published by Rottmann, 1790.

1836: A [[Dutch]] translation, entitled ''[[De Ring]]'' (credited to Schröder, so probably based on his German version) was produced in Stellenbosch on 4 June 1836 by [[Door Yver Vruchtbaar]], with as afterpiece ''[[De Wonder Doctor]]'' (Molière).
