Sergeant-Major [[T. H. Smith]] was a non-commissioned officer in the [[North Lincolnshire Regiment of Foot]]'s band when the Regiment was sent to the Eastern Frontier of the Cape Colony (now the Eastern Province, South Africa) between 1860 and 1862 shortly after the Xhosa cattle-killing movement and famine (1857-1858). The regiment was based in Grahamstown and Keiskama Hoek. (Modern spelling: Keiskammahoek.)

Sergeant-Major [[T. H. Smith]], who was a member of the Dramatic Club, performed 13 times during his stay in the Eastern Frontier. Once with the Dramatic Club, nine times with the [[Sergeants of the Regiment]] and three times with the [[Officers of the Regiment]]. All his roles were male.
