As playwright, she wrote ''[[VUKANI!]]'' An Aids play that has been performed in Colleges, Churches, and theatres in the United States. Besides this has published widely, including poetry, two autobiographical works, collections of shorts stories, 18 children's books and a novel, Mother to Mother, on the life of Amy Biehl (shortlisted for numerous awards).

 A former primary school teacher and civil servant,  she was a worker for peaceful change during the years of struggle in South Africa, and was one of the founding members of the Women’s Peace Movement in 1976.
