Founded by actor and director [[Siegfried Mynhardt]] in 1942, under the patronage of the [[Reddingsdaadbond]] (an [[Afrikaner]] support group from the **) to tour with ''[[Die Rooi Pruik]]'' ("The Red Wig") and an [[Afrikaans]] translation of ''[[Ladies in Retirement]]'' (starring [[Berdine Grünewald]] and [[Lydia Lindeque]]). The group was so successful that they were taken up North by the [[UDF Entertainment Unit]] to entertain the South African troups.
