The [[Performance Initiative]] is a collective of artists, writers and designers, musicians whose common goal is to provide a platform for new work. Founded in 1997?* by [[Cathy Henegan]], [[Francois Venter]] and [[Marc Odonovan]](???**), it seeks to cross all language and cultural barriers, taking fundamental cultural South African stereotypes and taboos, and tossing them around. Members include [[Cathy Henegan]], [[Francois Venter]] and [[Marc Odonovan]], [[Bheki Vilakazi]] , [[Mncedi Day]], [[Clara Khumalo]]. In 1997 they performed in Alexandra,and at the [[KKNK]], [[Grahamstown Festival]] and [[Arts Alive]] with shows such as ''[[The Cleansing of the Temple]]'' by [[Julie Barker]].
