Johannesburg. Text by [[Gustav Preller]], directed by Belgian-born director [[André van Gyseghem]]. Part of the [[Empire Exhibition]] in Johannesburg in 1936. Performed only four times near the end of the exhibition, in December 1936, it was rehearsed for more than a year. Like the [[The Pageant of Union]], it comprised a series of scenes from South African colonial history, culminating in the moment of Union. According to [[Percy Tucker]] (1997), this was held to celebrate the fiftieth birthday of Johannesburg.
