He was a member of the short lived [[Phoenix Dramatic Club]], in Cape Town in 1865, and is mentioned as a performer in the club's first presentation, on 27 June, 1865 in the [[Theatre Royal]], when he played one of the three leads in ''[[The Irish Attorney, or Galway Practice]]'' (Bernard).&lt;br /&gt;
