 Born Alexandria, Eastern Cape 14 October 1946, she studied Library Science at the [[University of Stellenbosch]] and worked as a librarian and subject specialist at various institutions in Port Elizabeth and Johannesburg before joining the staff of the [[University of Stellenbosch]]'s [[J.S. Gericke Library]] as specialist librarian for 21 years. On her retirement, she trained as a cultural tour guide, founding her own company.
