-Born to Pieter (Peter) Usher and Kathleen Millichip, Madeleine Cynthia Usher attended a convent school and matriculated from Durban Girls’ College.  She was second runner-up in the 1962 Miss South Africa contest and was offered the part of [[Bob Courtney]]’s daughter in [[Jamie Uys]]’s ''[[Lord Oom Piet]]'' (1962) straight out of school.  This was followed by a role in the [[Jim Reeves]] movie, ''[[Kimberley Jim]]'' ([[Emil Nofal]]/1963).  She made only four films after that: ''[[Mozambique]]'' ([[Robert Lynn]]/1964), ''[[The Winners]]'' ([[Emil Nofal]] & [[Roy Sargeant]]/1972), ''[[The Savage Sport]]'' ([[Keith G. van der Wat]]/1973) and ''[[The Winners II]]'' ([[Jans Rautenbach]]/1977).  On stage she appeared in ''[[Wait a Minim!]]'' (1962), directed by [[Leon Gluckman]], and ''[[Come Blow Your Horn]]'' (1964), directed by [[Rick Arden]].  She married Marcus Davidson in 1964 and the couple have four children.
