[[Lt Hanson]] (17**-18*) was a member of the British garrison in Cape Town, and an amateur actor and sometimes a "[[Director|director]]" for the [[Garrison Players]]. (He is confusingly also referred to as [[Lt Hansen]], by Bosman[http://www.dbnl.org/tekst/bosm012dram01_01/] on p. 143).

He and [[Lt Prescott]], are listed as the "Directors" for the first two performances in 1812, (i.e. ''[[Speed the Plough]]'' and ''[[The Irishman in London]]'' (6 July); and ''[[A Cure for the Heart Ache]]'' and ''[[The Jew and the Doctor]]'' (12 July) ). Presumably he was also one of the players in some or all of these and following pieces.
