 Along with another friend, [[Frederick Rex]] (the son of [[George Rex]]), he was possibly a co-author (with Rex and [[Andrew Geddes Bain]]) of the satirical piece ''[[Kaatjie Kekkelbek]]'' during his sojourn in Grahamstown.
