''Kaap'' ("Cape") is an [[Afrikaans]] drama set in Cape Town, engaging the sound, colour and colonial history of the city. The author has said that although it looks at these, it concerns a great deal more than theft.

== The original text ==

Written in 2019 on the first writers' residency of the [[NATi]] Jong Sterre programme and the [[Jakes Gerwel Foundation]], held at [[Paulet House]] in the Eastern Cape, under the mentorship of [[Amy Jephta]]. The text received a [[NATi]] Jong Sterre award in 2020, although sources differ on the category*. No published text has been traced*.

== Performance history in South Africa ==

2020: Presented as a staged reading in the [[NATi]] Jong Sterre programme at the [[Suidoosterfees]], Cape Town, 21-22 November, alongside texts by the other participants in the residency.

A full production, on which the author was working with the actress and director [[Lee-Ann van Rooy]] in 2023, has not been traced*.
