He seems to have been a teacher, but at some stage he was the proprietor of a photographic studio in Boksburg. Later he returned to teaching, wrote a number of school textbooks and became the Vice-Chairman of the Transvaalse Onderwysersvereeninging. ''[[Die Skerpioen]]'' was his only known film credit of any kind.
