She was born on 20 May 1927 and grew up on a farm in the Humansdorp district, Eastern Cape.

She was married to [[Pieter Geldenhuys]] for a number of years.

=== Training ===
Jane studied at the University of Stellenbosch. She obtained a fully bilingual licentiate in drama from UNISA. She took singing lessons with Esther Mentz. She obtained a diploma in teaching from Rhodes University.

=== Career ===
She joined [[NTO]] in 1955 and eventually became business manager of the English company. She later joined [[Wena Naudé]]’s company. She then settled in Humansdorp, teaching English at the High School.
