Born in London where she attended a convent school until she was 16 years of age. She was thereafter taken to Australia, and thence journeyed to South Africa, to begin a theatrical career with [[Leonard Rayne]], playing children's and soubrette roles in a number of plays. parts. Then she joined [[Kate Vaughan]] and was later associated with the companies of [[George Edwardes]] in London and performing in various parts of the empire.
