==The station==

Deriving from Radio Port Natal, founded in May 1967 and broadcasting from the new [[SABC]] Broadcasting House at 100 Fort Road, serving the Durban area. [[Sarel Marais]] was the first male voice on air, accompanied by [[Laetitia Vorster]]. The station grew in popularity into the 1970s, heavily featuring local personalities and shows.

When the station upgraded its technology to include stereo broadcasts, it was rebranded to '''[[RPN Stereo]]'''.

When the station was sold to the [[Kagiso Media Group]] on 1 July 1994, it became known as '''[[East Coast Radio]]'''
