Published in 1809, and first performed in the Burghtheater, Vienna on 4 August, 1810.

Translated from the German original into [[Dutch]] as ''[[De Engelsche Goederen]]'' by Jan Steven van Esveldt Holtrop and published in 1809.

== Performance history in South Africa ==

1833: Performed in [[Dutch]] by the amateur company [[Tot Nut en Vermaak]] on 24 August as afterpiece to ''[[Kwade Luim|De Kwaade Luim]]'' (Von Kotzebue).

1844: Performed in [[Dutch]] by the combined company, [[Het Privaat Hollandsch Tooneellievend Gezelschap]] playing under the combined motto [[Tot Nut en Vermaak en Door Yver Vruchtbaar]], in the [[Hope Street Theatre]], Cape Town on 15 November, as afterpiece to ''[[De Trouwring]]'' (Lembert).
