He returned to South Africa in 1959 to join the staff of the [[University of Cape Town Ballet School]] and in 1963 he became the first ballet master of [[CAPAB Ballet]], taking over as artistic director in 1969 and three years later combining this post with the directorship of [[UCT Ballet]]. He retired in 1990 and died on 27 August 1991.
