(1924-1968) Teacher, journalist and short story writer who described city life. Worked for Drum and Golden City Post before moving to Manzini in Swaziland, where he died. His story ''[[The Suit]]'' was dramatized by [[Barney Simon]] and performed at the [[Market Theatre]] and [[Grahamstown Festival]] by *** in 1994. In 2002 a dance version of the play was developed and performed at the Baxter Theatre by ** as part of the *** Dance **. A collection of his stories, ''The World of Can Themba'', edited by Essop Patel, was published in 1985. THEMBA, Can. His ''[[The Suit]]'' was adapted by [[Mothobi Mutloatse]] and staged in 1993.
