The production was a series of portraits of and songs about South Africans abroad and returning home. Msomi returned to South Africa two years earlier (1992) from the United States. ''[[Buya Africa]]'' starred his wife, singer [[Thuli Dumakude]], singing traditional and contemporary songs in various languages. Her 12-year-old son [[Mandla Msomi]] played drums.
