She joined the Sibikwa Players in 1987 in Daveytown near Johannesburg, then she briefly worked with Township based bands at Mega Music Studios. In 1990 she performed as a puppeteer for the first time with the [[Handspring Puppet Company]], subsequently becoming a fully professional puppeteer.

Her first stage role was in ''[[So Where To?]]'' at the [[Market Theatre]]. Performed as puppeteer in ''[[Starbright's]]'' at the Market Theatre in 1990. She played Ma Ubu in ''[[Ubu and the Truth Commission]]'' in 1997.
