Professor André du Toit is an Emeritus Professor with the department of Political Science at the University of Cape Town. Has a Drs Phil from Leyden University and a DPhil. from Stellenbosch University. His research interests are: Intellectual history of South African political thought and traditions; political ethics, ideologies and discourse; philosophical reflections on the [[Truth and Reconciliation Commission]]; the narrative interpretation of political violence in South Africa.

A co-founder, with [[Hermann Gillionmee]], of Die [[Suid-Afrikaan]] in 1984.
