(1947-) Durban born and -based film producer with an international reputation. While an electrical engineering student at the [[University of Durban-Westville]] he began as an amateur film-maker and worker in a movie rental store, which he then bought. He then moved into film distribution and then film production. Among his notable films are Alan Paton’s ''Cry the Beloved Country'' (19**), ''Place of Weeping'' (19**), ''The Stick'', Nelson Mandela’s ''Long Walk to Freedom'' and Mbongeni Ngema’s ''Sarafina'' (199*). In 2006 he co-produced the stage play ''[[Bombay Crush]]'' with [[Sibaya Casino and Entertainment Kingdom]]. In 2000 he received an Honorary Doctorate from the [[University of Durban-Westville]].***
