[[Mr Gibbs]] is the name of the passenger on the mailboat "[[The Courland]]",  who was specifically mentioned as the author of the text of "''[[Indignation]]''", a "farcical charade"  put on in Table Bay by officers and passengers on Christmas Eve, 1872.
