It is based on a collection of songs and legends, adapted and harmonized for four voices, and was published under the name [[Adele Gie]] by [[Unie-Volkspers]] in 1941.

It was long listed for the [[Hertzog Prize|Hertzog Prize for Drama]] for the period 1941-1943.
