The story first appeared in ''21'', a collection of Rabie's stories and published by [[Human & Rousseau]] in 1956.

==Adaptations and translations ==

In 2024 the tale was recorded for broadcast by ''[[Luisterverhale]]'', as a project undertaken by [[Katinka Heyns]] and [[Sonneblom Ateljees]], in partnership with [[LitNet]] and sponsored by the [[Dagbreek Trust]]. (The [[Luisterverhale]] project seeks to have short stories by well known [[Afrikaans]] authors are read by professional actors for transmission.) 


This audio version was directed by [[Katinka Heyns]], read by [[Tobie Cronjé]] and first podcast on 28 February, 2024.
