A parody of A.V. Arnault's contemporaneous tragedy ''[[Lucrèce]]''[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antoine-Vincent_Arnault], it was first performed in Paris at the Théâtre du Vaudeville, on Friday 18 May, 1792. Published in Paris by Brunet.

== South African performances ==

1809: Performed in French by the [[French Company]] led by [[Charles Etienne Boniface]], on 7 April   in the [[African Theatre]], Cape Town,  with ''[[La Paysanne Curieuse]]'' (Framery) and ''[[Les Troubadours]]'' (Floquet).
