La Revanche Forcée
La Revanche Forcée is a one act comedy in vaudeville style by Jacques Marie Deschamps (1750-1826)[1].
The original text
First performed at Théâtre du Vaudeville, Paris, on 10 February 1792, and published in the same year. A new addition was published by the Théâtre du Vaudeville in 1798.
Performances in South Africa
1803: Planned for 11 June but finally performed on 18 June (due to the indisposition of the musicians) in The African Theatre, Cape Town by the French Amateurs under the direction of Charles Mathurin Villet, with Les Deux Jumeaux de Bergame (De Florian) and Arlequin Afficheur (Desfontaines, Barré and Radet).
1807: Performed 12 December in the Fransche Liefhebbery Theatre by the Het Fransche Liefhebbery Geselschap, with De l'Astronomanie (Anon).
