James Blanckenberg (194*-) is an actor, teacher, director and voice coach.

Trained at the University of Stellenbosch/Cape Town?*.

Career

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

Taught Afrikaans speech and acting at the University of Cape Town Drama Department from 19**-199*.

He made a name for himself as a director with the Afrikaans productions of newly written plays put on for the Kampustoneel Festival by University of Cape Town students in the 1980s, including Klaaglied vir 'n Kunstenaar (1988) .

He directed Diepe Grond (1995), Bagasie (1996).

He translated the play La Ronde into Afrikaans entitled Liefdeskringloop.

Awards, etc

In 1994 he received the Fleur du Cap Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the industry.
