A hugely popular local adaptation for the stage, based om Richard Burton's translation of the Thousand and One Arabian Nights, as adapted for the stage by Shared Experience Theatre Co., London and improvised and workshopped for the production by director Janice Honeyman and the cast.

1980: First presented by The Company, staged Upstairs at the Market and the Main Hall, directed by Janice Honeyman and featuring Vanessa Cooke, Nicholas Ellenbogen, Roberta Durrant, Adrienne Pearce, Robert Whitehead and David Eppel. Lighting by Mannie Manim. Photographs by Ruphin Coudyzer. Translation by Sir Richard Burton.

1981: Performed at the Baxter Theatre in 1981, directed by Janice Honeyman and featuring Frantz Dobrowsky, Vanessa Cooke, Adrienne Pearce, Robert Whitehead, David Eppel, Lesley Nott. Lighting by Mannie Manim.
