Wie is Leopold? ("Who is Leopold?") is an Afrikaans one-act play by Temple Hauptfleisch (1945-).

The original text

Set in a fictional European country the 18th century, it tells of a man condemned to die, but who is tjen given a reprieve for a day, to act as stand-in for the king, whom he resembles, during a potential assassination attempt.

Winner of the ATKV Afrikaans one act play competition in 1971, the text was published as a playtext by DALRO in 1974. Later included in the play collection Die Kleiner Kosmos (Breytenbach and Hauptfleisch, 1980). The collection was a set work for Afrikaans language studies at high schools in various provinces in the period and was quite often produced by schools.
