Toinon et Toinette

Toinon et Toinette is a two act opéra-comique[1], with a libretto by Desbouliers (Jean-Auguste Jullien -1731-1771)[2] and music by François-Joseph Gossec (1734-1829)[3].

First performed in Paris by the Comédiens Italiennes (Hôtel de Bourgogne), 20 June 1767 Published Paris : de La Chevardière ; Lyon : Castaud , [1768]

Performance history in South Africa

1803: Performed in the African Theatre by the Het Fransche Liefhebbery Geselschap under the leadership of Charles Mathurin Villet on Saturday 13 August with Le Tableau Parlant (Anseaume).
