The Boy Who Fell from the Roof is a play by Juliet Jenkin.

The original text

A coming-of-age play about a young man uncertain about his sexuality. The play was nominated for a Naledi Award for 'Best New South African Play' in 2008, and was also nominated for 'Best Play' at the Dublin Gay Theatre Festival in 2007. Published by Junkets Publisher, 2007, and in S.A. Gay Plays: The Artscape Dublin Festival Plays (2011).

Performance history in South Africa

2005: First performed at Artscape as part of the New Writer’s Programme, in the first Artscape Spring Drama Season.

2006: Performed at the National Arts Festival, the Artscape Arena and the Hilton Arts Festival.

2007: Performed at the KKNK Arts Festival in Oudtshoorn, the International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival, National Arts Festival, and at the Theatre on the Square, Johannesburg, directed by Roy Sargeant, with Francesco Nassimbeni (Simon), Alex Halligey (Georgina), David Johnson/Keenan Arrison (Leonard), Adrienne Pearce (mother) and Frances Malek (Narrator).

2012: Staged in the Con Cowan Theatre at the University of Johannesburg as part of the THATSOGAY Festival, directed by Jade Bowers, with Will Pretorius (Simon), Tanielle Powell (Georgina), Ashalin Singh (Leonard), Brenda Devar (mother), and Modise Sekgothe (Narrator).
