Nemesis is a thriller written by Mario Schiess (1933-1998).

Not to be confused with the burlesque Nemesis! Or Not Wisely but Too Well by H.B. Farnie

The original text

Schiess's play is the dramatisation of a fictitious fateful meeting between Dr Joseph Mengele, camp doctor of Auschwitz, and a young Jew who has come to assassinate him.

The paly is unpublished, but a playscript is held by NELM ([Collection: SIMON, Barney]: 2003. 90. 473).

Performance history in South Africa

1988: Staged in the Kleinteater in Pretoria, directed by Mario Schiess, with Patrick Mynhardt (Mengele), Bruce Alexander (Meyers) and Margaret Koch.

1989: Directed by Schiess for CAPAB, opening 8 March at the Nico Arena, with Patrick Mynhardt (Mengele), Bruce Alexander (Meyers) and Margaret Koch.
