Ellen Terry the Harum-Scarum Girl

Ellen Terry the Harum-Scarum Girl is a play by Montague Haltrecht, based on the life of Dame Ellen Terry, GBE [1] (27 February 1847 – 21 July 1928), an English stage actress who became the leading Shakespearean actress in Britain. The play was written for the Englsih actress Judi Dench.

Performance history in South Africa

Adapted into a one-woman show by Bess Finney for the Friends of the Johannesburg Art Gallery, 1981.

In 1981 Bess Finney produced and acted in the play at the Baxter Studio, directed by John Rogers.

A Quentin Productions production was directed by Drummond Marais with Bess Finney in the title role at the Rosebank Theatre, Johannesburg in 1992.
