Capitola, or The Masked Mother and The Hidden Hand is a drama in three acts, by Colin Henry Hazlewood (1823-1875)[1].


The original text

Based on The Hidden Hand (or Capitola the Madcap), a serial novel by E.D.E.N. Southworth (first published in the New York Ledger in 1859), and dramatized by Hazlewood in 1965?.

Published in London by T.H. Lacy, 1865?

Performance history in South Africa

1867: Performed in the Theatre Royal, Cape Town on 28 May by the Le Roy's Original Company company, with Poor Pillicoddy. The evening was offered as a benefit for Le Roy.
