Bittersoet, translated into Afrikaans by Hanli Rolfes from the original Sweet Sorrows by Deon Opperman. Elsabé Daneel portrays five different women who struggle to overcome the trauma caused by rape, abortion, infertility, being white in Africa as well as giving up a child. First performed at the Aardklop festival in 2012. Produced by Elsabé Daneel, directed by Juanita Swanepoel. (Source: Eikestadnuus, 1 February 2013).

Vyf vroue. Een aktrise. ʼn Ode aan weerloosheid en taaiheid. Hoe verwerk mens die trauma van verkragting, aborsie, onvrugbaarheid, witwees in Afrika, asook die weggee en selfmoord van ʼn kind? Die verliese is bitter, maar die soet balsem lê in elke vrou se stille triomf om heel te word.
