Aldo Behrens

Aldo Behrens (19*-) is an actor, playwright, director, academic and teacher.


In 1958 he played in Die Bittereinder directed by Theuns Botha. He also performed in Die Vroue van Troje. In 1965/66 he performed again in Ook Kolie Gee Raad for Volksteater. His wife, Laurika also performed with him in this play. In 1967 he performed in Die Huweliksaansoek by Chekov and directed by Mario Schiess. He worked with Anna Neethling-Pohl as part of his studies on Agt Vroue. Then he directed with Dot Denysschen-Botha Getuie vir die Staat for Volksteater and performed at the Piet van der Walt theatre, Pretoria in 1972.

Later became Professor of the Arts at the University of Namibia and then, on retirement, Director of the Die Bank Windhoek Kunstefees.

He directed the first productions of Dorian Haarhoff's Orange (at the Space Theatre, Windhoek in 1988) and Guerilla Goatherd at the National Arts Festival in 1990.
